A “Maso” in Madonna di Campiglio:

The “Maso” is a typical country cottage in Trentino Alto Adige and was, at one time, all of a barn, a stable and a small room used as kitchen and making cheese . The use of materials for the construction of Maso depends on where it was built: the wood in places rich of forests and stone where it was not difficult to supply. The Maso was mainly lived-in from autumn (late) to spring until the transhumance. Maso rebuilt inside the restaurant comes from the Val di Rabbi and is dated about 1900 and the granite comes from the Val di Genova and the stones from the Val di Rabbi

A “Stube” in Madonna di Campiglio:

The Stube or Stua is a room completely covered in wood, typical of alpine areas such as the Valtellina, Alto Adige or Trentino, but it is also very widespread in Austria and Germany. It was once the only heated room in the house because there was the wood stove. Generally the room was exposed to the south in such a way as to maximize the sun's heat during the long winters; the stove was fed from the outside, so as to avoid heat loss. Our Stube is from a manor house of the Val di Non and dates back to 1850.
